Daybreak Nurseries - Laura Orawski

Historically, across all Daybreak Nurseries sites we raise money for various charities over each year, we take part in the bigger nationwide events and also the smaller local events, raising money for a whole host of charities.

This year we, as a company have decided to fund-raise slightly differently. I have decided to focus all our efforts on one cause, with all money raised at various events / activities specifically going to one brave little boy, my godson Ossie.

There are four daybreak sites that are raising money for Ossie with a variety of events. We have already held a superhero day at one site, raising almost £300. Some parents have donated using my GoFundMe page and in one month we have raised £1000.

On the week of 9th May at the Shepherds Lane site we have a Sports for Ossie week for daybreak children, that includes various sporting events across the whole week, with children being sponsored by parents to take part in the activities. This will also be happening at two of the other sites in coming weeks.

We have a family fun day in the process of being planned, open to the general public in the Summer (date TBC), which will include a day of raising money for Ossie by way of cake sales, raffle, sponge the staff, activities on the main field, auction and much much more…………….. full details will follow when confirmed.

Some other events / activities include:

Quiz nights

Christmas Fair

Sponsored activities

Donation days

Sports days and graduation ceremonies

The managers of the 4 sites have been extremely proactive and enthusiastic with my request for fund-raising across the year. We are so excited to raise as much money as we possibly can.

Laura Stevens, Nursery Manager and the team from Amersham Chiltern Avenue (ACA) says…..

‘’When I heard about Ossie and the devastating illness that he has I wanted to do more than help. No child or family should every have to suffer and watch their loved ones go through such a horrible experience. When Laura Orawski (Rickmansworth Town Centre Manager and our Senior Company Manager) had requested she wanted the nurseries to fund-raise I was nothing but on board with this.

Speaking from experience and watching loved ones in my family suffer there is nothing I want to do more than help, raise money for further treatment and let Ossie experience all the things in life that we take for granted.

As a team at ACA we have thought of many different fund-raising ideas that we wish to do. We spoke about staff netball competitions, sponsored walks, sponsored dances and many more to come over the coming months!

The team spoke to the children and they understand that Ossie is very poorly and he needs our help. The children really want to plan a summer party! The children have told their teachers they wish to dress up as super heroes and have a fun day in the sunshine. We will be planning our summer party with the children and letting them lead telling us what they wish to do to help us raise money for Ossie.’’

Claire Thurgood, Nursery Manager from Rickmansworth Shepherds Lane (RSL) says…

‘’This year, fundraising for Ossie not only means all the money we raise goes to a little boy who really needs it, but it’s supporting a local family who many of us know. Not only is Laura Orawski, our Senior Manager, his godmother but Ossie’s cousin attends here at RSL and his Auntie Becky used to work here too. Knowing that the money we raise this year could help Ossie get the treatment he needs means so much to me and all of us at Daybreak. Ossie and his family need our help and with everyone’s support, we will hit the £500,000 target!’’

Details of all forthcoming events will be added as they are confirmed.
